Description : The Dark-sided Flycatcher is a dark brown passerine (length 13 cm, weight 10 g, wing 7.3 cm, bill 1.2 cm, tarsus 1 cm, tail 4.8 cm). It has grey-brown back and long primary projection. Its throat is prominently white, sides of the neck are white and throat patch has ashygrey outlines, and narrow white line down the centre of belly. Its bill is broad based, dumpy and black with yellow or orange at the base of the lower mandible. It has large, dark brown irises and pale eye-ring. Its lore is pale and sometimes brownish. It has black legs, feet, claws and grey sole. The male and the female look alike. It feeds mainly on flying insects. It breeds in May-July
