Description : ঘানিয়া মাছ লম্বাটে শরীরের অধিকারী আর এদের এক জোড়া বারবেল থাকে।ঠোঁট পুরু এবং ঝালর বিশিষ্ট হয় আর এদের তুণ্ড মুখের থেকেও আরো সামনে প্রসারিত হয়ে থাকে।শরীর উপরের দিকে সবুজাভ-কালো আর নিচে সাদা হয়।গাঢ় প্রান্তের আঁশ শরীরে গাঢ় অনুদৈঘ্র্য রেখার মতো দেখতে লাগে।পুচ্ছ পাখনা তীক্ষ্ণ হয়ে থাকে।
