Scientific Name : Clinotarsus alticola
Family : Ranidae
Order : Anura
Class : Amphibia
Phylum : Chordata
Other Name : Point-nosed Frog, Hill Frog, High-altitude Frog
Habitat : Nocturnal/Forests
Description : Point-nosed Frogs are generally small to medium-sized frogs, with adults ranging from 2 to 7 cm (0.8 to 2.8 inches) in length.
They have a pointed snout, which gives them their name. Their body coloration varies from brown to green, often with mottling or speckling.
These frogs are found in a variety of habitats, including forests, grasslands, and wetlands. They are primarily aquatic and are often found near streams, ponds, and other bodies of water.
They are carnivorous and feed on a variety of small invertebrates, including insects, spiders, and other small arthropods.
Like most frogs, they have a complex reproductive cycle. They lay eggs in water, which hatch into tadpoles. The tadpoles then undergo metamorphosis, developing legs and lungs, and emerge from the water as adult frogs.
They are known for their distinctive calls, which vary depending on the species. Males often call to attract females during the breeding season.
Some species of Point-nosed Frogs are threatened by habitat loss and degradation, as well as pollution and overcollection for the pet trade. We should be more careful to preserve them.
