Description : Hawksbill sea turtles are relatively small, with a carapace length of around 2-3 feet (60-90 cm) and a weight of around 100-150 pounds (45-68 kg).

Their carapace is characterized by its beautiful, colorful pattern of overlapping scutes (scales), which range in color from yellow and brown to orange and black.
Hawksbill sea turtles have a distinctive, bird-like beak that is used for crushing and consuming their primary food source, which is primarily sponges.

These turtles are primarily found in coral reef habitats, but also inhabit rocky and grassy areas.

Females usually lay their eggs on beaches between May and September, with each clutch containing around 100-150 eggs.

The hawksbill sea turtle is listed as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), with the main threats to their survival being habitat loss, hunting for their shells, and accidental capture in fishing gear. Conservation efforts include protection of nesting beaches, reduction of bycatch, and regulation of the trade in hawksbill products.
