Scientific Name : Euphlyctis cyanophlyctis

Phylum : Chordata
Other Name : Skipper Frog, Skittering Frog
Habitat : Almost every type of habitat (wetlands), including salt water.
Description : The skipper frog, also known as the Eastern narrow-mouthed toad, is a small species of toad. They are typically brown or gray in color with a distinct stripe that runs down their backs. Skipper frogs are small, measuring only about 2.5 centimeters in length, and have a narrow, pointed snout that they use to burrow into the soil.
Skipper frogs are primarily nocturnal and spend much of their time hiding in the leaf litter and soil of their habitat. They are insectivores, feeding on small insects and other invertebrates. During mating season, male skipper frogs can be heard making a distinctive "peep" sound to attract females.
While skipper frogs are not considered to be a threatened species, their populations have declined in some areas due to habitat loss and degradation. They are an important part of their local ecosystems, helping to control insect populations and serving as a food source for predators such as snakes and birds.
As with all species of toads, it is important to handle skipper frogs with care and avoid handling them if possible. Some species of toads can produce toxic secretions on their skin as a defense mechanism, and these secretions can be harmful to humans or pets if ingested or even touched. It is best to observe these fascinating creatures from a safe distance and appreciate them for their natural beauty and role in the ecosystem.
