Description : The Caspian Tern is a large pale waterbird with a large red bill (adult bird length approximately 51 cm; wing 40 cm; bill 6.8 cm; tarsus 4.6 cm; tail: 10.5 cm, outer 14.2 cm). In the breeding season, it looks pale grey from above and pure white from below. It has a black cap ending in a short crest on the nape. Its bill is massive and dark red with a dark grey tip. It feeds mainly on fish and crabs. It occasionally takes eggs and young of other terns and gulls.
