Description : Sloth bears have a shaggy black coat with a characteristic "V" shaped white or cream-colored marking on their chest. They have long, curved claws that are specially adapted for digging and tearing apart termite mounds.

Sloth bears have an elongated snout and long, flexible lips that they use to suck up insects like termites and ants. They also have a highly developed sense of smell that they use to locate food.

Sloth bears are primarily insectivorous and their diet consists mainly of ants, termites, and honeycombs. They also eat fruits, flowers, and occasionally small mammals and birds.

Sloth bears are found in forested areas. They prefer dense forests with plenty of cover and water sources.

Sloth bears are solitary animals and are mainly active during the night. They are excellent climbers and can also dig large holes in the ground to create dens. They are known for their aggressive behavior when threatened and will rear up on their hind legs and attack with their long claws and teeth.

Sloth bears face threats from habitat loss, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict. They are listed as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and are protected by national laws in the countries where they are found. Sloth bears are also used in traditional medicine practices, which puts further pressure on their populations.
