Description : Blyth's Kingfisher is a small blue-backed water bird which looks dark blue from above and orange from below.Male has an entirely black bill but that of the lower mandible of the female is reddish. Both sexes has blood-red iris along with coral-red legs and feet. It engages in breeding activities during the period spanning from March to June. To create suitable habitats for their offspring, they construct nests at the terminus of tunnels that they excavate within the banks of streams or ravines. Typically, the reproductive pair takes turns in incubating the four to six eggs. This species tends to be timid in nature and frequently inhabits small waterways. Its primary source of sustenance consists of fish and insects, which it captures by diving from a shrub in close proximity to the water. It primarily occupies regions along streams within evergreen forests and adjoining open areas, typically at elevations ranging from 200 to 1,200 meters (660 to 3,900 feet), with a preference for altitudes between 400 and 1,000 meters (1,300 and 3,300 feet).
