Description : The Monkey Puzzle butterfly is 25 to 30 mm in size. Upperside of both sexes is brown. Hindwings bear two tornal spots and a narrow dark reddish band. Each Hindwings has three tails. The male butterfly has a brownish-black upper side with a violet tint. Its forewing has a white spot past the cell's end, along with two smaller spots in an oblique row. The hindwing features black lunular spots between the tails, topped with orange and a fine blue thread on the outer sides. The tails are black with white tips. Underside is white, sometimes slightly yellowish, with pale chocolate markings. The female is similar to the male but with larger white spots on the upper forewing. Antennae are black with white rings, and the head/body match the wing colors.
