Description : The Baillon’s Crake is a small, grey-brown swamp-bird with very short wings (adult bird length approximately 18 cm, weight 40 g, wing 8.5 cm, bill 1.5 cm, tarsus 2.7 cm, tail 4 cm). It has red irises, a horny-green bill and yellowish-green legs and feet. It feeds chiefly on the seeds of aquatic plants. It also takes insects, worms and molluscs.
